We Advocate for People,
Not Creditors
National Consumer Bankruptcy Advocates is a free, independent directory dedicated to helping consumer debtors in American bankruptcy cases find qualified legal representation — without paywalls, without bias, and without selling your information to the highest bidder.
Our Mission
The American bankruptcy system exists to give honest, hard-working people a fresh financial start. But navigating that system without an attorney is extraordinarily difficult — and finding the right attorney has historically meant wading through paid advertising, opaque ratings, and directories that prioritize attorney revenue over consumer outcomes.
We built this site to change that. Our directory is free for consumers, organized by geography and case type, and focused exclusively on consumer debtors — the individuals and families facing Chapter 7 liquidations, Chapter 13 repayment plans, and the full weight of creditor pressure.
We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. We are advocates for the consumer debtor's right to accessible, affordable legal representation in every corner of the United States.
Who We Serve
This site exists for one type of person: the consumer debtor. We are not a resource for creditors, debt collectors, or businesses seeking commercial bankruptcy counsel.
Individuals & Families
People overwhelmed by medical debt, job loss, divorce, or unexpected financial hardship who need a fresh start through Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
Homeowners Facing Foreclosure
Homeowners who need to understand how bankruptcy's automatic stay can pause foreclosure proceedings and create space to restructure or save their home.
Wage Earners Under Garnishment
Workers whose wages are being garnished by creditors and who need immediate legal intervention to stop the garnishment and address the underlying debt.
Our Principles
Free for Consumers, Always
Searching our directory, viewing attorney profiles, and submitting a case inquiry costs nothing. We generate revenue through attorney memberships — never by charging consumers or selling their personal information.
Consumer Debtors First
Every editorial decision — which attorneys to feature, how to write our guides, what tools to build — is made from the perspective of the consumer debtor, not the creditor or the attorney.
Accurate, Honest Information
Our guides and resources are written to help people understand their legal options clearly, without sensationalism or scare tactics. Bankruptcy is a legal right, not a last resort to be ashamed of.
Geographic Coverage
We are committed to maintaining attorney coverage in all 50 states, including rural and underserved communities where access to bankruptcy counsel is most limited.
